Food Bank

Sandbach Methodist Church, in conjunction with Churches Together in Sandbach, operates a Food Bank. For full details, visit the church website (www.sandbachmethodist.org.uk/foodbank.html) and also see the poster below. In January 2015, it was reported that:

The collection box in the Barclays branch is proving very successful, it needs to be emptied about every 2 weeks. Since the last report we have also had large donations of food items from the local police and from Turnpike Court.

Stocks are still high and so we don’t have any particular need for items, however as always we are happy to take any donations which we are very grateful for.

Since the last report in October we have been a bit busier and have put together 20 parcels, bringing our total since we began to 179.

We don’t deal directly with the people who are our customers, they are referred to us by an agency that has the specialist knowledge and skills to determine whether the need is there and can also provide other support relevant to the individual’s circumstances. If you are aware of anyone in need of a food parcel, or if someone approaches you about getting a food parcel they should be referred on to one of these agencies. A full list of agencies that we deal with is available on the food bank table in the Wesley Centre, but a few of the main ones are listed here for your information: The Families Centre; The Children's Centre; Plus Dane; Cheshire East social services; Cheshire East (Benefits) Emergencies team; Cheshire East CAB; Making Space; and Arch.

Thank you for your continued support of the food bank.
